A Conversation about Gleaning, Food Security & the Future of Food Waste in NJ
Online via Zoom
The NJ Food Democracy Collaborative is excited to host an important conversation about how we can simultaneously address a major source of climate change (food waste) and support the emergency food sector in NJ.
You may know that:
- in 2019, a new statute was created in NJ to address food waste. That is A4705/S3232. Among other things, it requires the creation of a Food Waste Task Force to problem-solve this issue. It has yet to be named or created.
- Rutgers University facilitates a statewide Climate Change Alliance and one of its current Work Groups, the Sustainable Organic Materials Work Group, is also currently focused on the Food Waste and Food Redirection/Redistribution issue.
This conversation will feature leaders on this issue and your questions are welcome.
