We’re Hiring!

2021 Nutrition and Culinary Education Outreach Summer Internship Opportunity!

2019 Interns: Emily Fithian (L) and Talya Adams (R)

Rolling Harvest Food Rescue’s mission is to rescue and share the abundant surplus from our local farms that used to be going to waste, and get this healthy food to our neighbors in need. We built our Nutrition and Culinary Outreach program to ensure that none of this great food goes unloved. It is so important that recipients know how to enjoy the fresh produce we provide and how to bring a new level of health and deliciousness to their family meals. If you agree, then help us teach healthy eating for life!

The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, flexibility, compassion and respect for the at-risk, food-insecure population we are helping.

Our Nutrition Education Intern will assist Rolling Harvest’s Nutrition and Culinary Education Outreach Team with:

Fresh produce distribution, identification, preparation and healthy cooking advice, working within the financial and housing constraints of the food pantry recipients. You will help conduct cooking demos, recipe and video creation, and will also be working directly with food pantry recipient families and pantry volunteers.

Other duties will include occasional weekly produce pickups from our partner farmers and food producers, and some gleaning (harvesting). Additional nutrition and cooking outreach will be arranged at Fresh Connect free mobile farm markets, low-income senior housing, senior community centers, summer camps for under-served youth, health clinics and area shelters, schedule TBD as COVID safety protocols adapt.

  • Flexibility, creativity and positivity are key components of this internship, as our societal needs and safety protocols are constantly being re-assessed.
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift 35 pounds.
  • This is a 12-week college summer break internship (allowing for a one week vacation during the summer), based on the candidate’s academic schedule and prior family vacation commitments. 20 hours per week, with all attempts made by Rolling Harvest to accommodate any other part-time job the candidate may be committed to for evenings and late afternoons. $2,000 stipend offered either as a non-taxable college grant, or as weekly taxable income.
  • Must have own vehicle. Fuel costs reimbursed with a $200 gas card provided for the internship.
  • Spanish speaking and living in Bucks County, PA a plus.

Please send cover letter and resume by March 31, 2021 to vsarnoff@rollingharvest.org
