Mission Statement

The mission of Rolling Harvest Food Rescue is to connect local farms’ fresh healthy surplus produce to food and nutrition-insecure residents through food assistance agencies and free farm market distributions, and to facilitate awareness of food insecurity, food waste, agricultural land stewardship, basic cooking skills, and the nutritional value of fruits and vegetables.

We envision an equitable, local, and sustainable food system that empowers all individuals to thrive, grounded in the belief that abundant access to fresh, healthy food is the cornerstone of wellness and resilience, and not just a privilege but a fundamental right.

The following three pillars house all of our current initiatives.

Healthy Food Access

  • Farm-based Gleaning, Produce Rescue, and Distribution Programs
  • “Fresh Food Access Hubs”
  • Grow-to-Give Program

Education

  • Nutrition Education Program
  • Lessons about environmental stewardship, food waste, and regenerative agriculture
  • Engaging volunteers and the public in hunger awareness at our gleaning and outreach events.

Advocacy

  • Produce Purchase Program
  • Active roles in many local collaboratives advocating for food and environmental justice.
